Icons and the LinkLaunch Icon Manager
LinkLaunch ships with three icons embedded in the executable file. The default
icon,
is used to denote linking and launching an application. To make program items
appear more meaningful, you may want to assign other icons. With Progman, this
can be accomplished by using the "Change Icon" button in the "Item Properties"
dialog. Other Windows shells have a similar procedure.
To make it simpler to change icons, an Icon Manager utility is included with
LinkLaunch. It allows you to cut and paste icons from any *.EXE or *.DLL to any
other *.EXE or *.DLL. It can be used to create files that serve as libraries
for your most frequently used icons. One convenient approach is to store
frequently used icons directly in LL.EXE.
The other icons that ship in LL.EXE are useful to symbolize creating and
deleting persistent drive mappings. If you are creating desktop items to create or
delete drive mappings using the '-p' or '-d' options, you may want to use these
icons.
